We had an opportunity to chat with Grayson about his career. Check out the interview below.
Thank you for granting the interview, Grayson! We are excited for Bad Blood: The Movie. Tell us about the character.
I played the character of Wade Jr. who is a creepy little step-brother to the girl Victoria. I’m always trying to get her into trouble since she was a popular teenager and taking over all of the time and attention of the family. And I really love to eat candy!
The film has that classic horror feel. Did you do any research to play your character?
I did not do any research. As each scene played out, I just formed a little bit more about the Wade Jr. character. I used some of my own snarkiness to add a little bit to his character. I did get to stay up late a couple of nights because who films a horror film in broad daylight?
2017 has been a busy year! Several films are in various stages of production. Let’s talk The Browsing Effect. Tell us about the film.
The film is about the many dating apps and what can happen when you meet someone on these apps. I play a younger version of one such person. You’ll have to watch the movie and see what happens! #shamelessplug
What has inspired you to act?
Grayson Russell, actually! My mom was taking me and a friend to see a new movie in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series at a local (Huntsville, Alabama) theater. He was there promoting the film since he is also from Alabama. When I was getting his autograph, I told him my name was Grayson also. Two red-headed Graysons from Alabama in the same place!
A local acting school was hosting the premier with Grayson Russell. After talking to me for a couple of minutes Mr. Bill Billions asked if I was interested in being in a film that was being filmed at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center just a few miles away. I said “Sure, I’ll try it.” since it was during summer break from school. So, I was able to be on the set of Space Warriors and I was hooked! I filmed my first movie!
Is there a role you want to play?
Hmm let me see… ANYTHING IN MARVEL OR DC! I have loved comics since I was a little kid because my mom liked comics as a kid too. Flash, Iron Man, Thor… I watch all of the comic book stories made into movies and TV shows and would love, LOVE to be in any one of them!
I love to be on set. Playing a part in Super-hero movies would be awesome but I just want to be on set filming.
I love comedy. I get “bully” roles a lot because of the red hair probably. Everybody always tells me I do really well with the dramatic roles, but I really want to do comedy.
What has been your fondest memory of working in the industry?
My fondest memory was on the set of “Bad Blood” when it was around 1 or 2 AM. I remember the director had shown me his old room in his parents’ house where the movie was being filmed. He said I could take any one of these and pointed to stacks and stacks of comic books. I was so excited that I took home almost 100 comic books!
Mr. Tim was excited to hand them over to someone that was such a comic enthusiast like himself.
Is there anything you would like to add that we haven’t asked?
I just received my first leading role in a feature film! “Black Pumpkin” will be filming in the next few months and should be out next October. I am looking forward to being on set again! This one looks like it will be really cool!
