9Bach has solidified their place as one of Wales’ most innovative and visionary bands, blending Welsh musical heritage with contemporary influences to create a truly unique sound. Fronted by Lisa Jên Brown, the band has continually pushed creative boundaries, and 2025 marks an exciting new chapter in their journey. This year, they’ve teamed up with renowned artist Andy Gangadeen, known for his work with leading acts like Chase & Status and Lava La Rue. Their collaboration introduces “powerful big beats and up-tempo grooves” to 9Bach’s signature style, marking the first taste of this dynamic musical partnership.

Drawing from Lisa and Martin’s personal connection to the acid house movement of the ’80s and ’90s, the new material captures the energy, freedom, and euphoria of that era—whether it’s the pulse of a London warehouse party or a rave in a North Wales quarry. Although Lisa and Martin didn’t know each other back then, their shared love for those electrifying beats has become a powerful source of inspiration, fueling their desire to recreate that joyous, body-moving energy in their music.

The recording process for this project has been a departure from 9Bach’s previous work. While their last studio album, Anian, was recorded live at Real World Studios, this new material has taken shape in a more intimate and mobile setting. Lisa, Martin, and Andy recorded across various cottages in North Wales, utilizing Andy’s mobile 101 Studio, Sdiwdio 9Bach in Bethesda, and Andy’s 101 Studio in Bow. Additional contributions from Mirain and Dan added a touch of magic from their home studios in London and Cardiff.

Reflecting on the project, Lisa Jên Brown shares, “This time, I’ve composed songs while listening to Andy’s drum sequences for inspiration. It’s been refreshing to shake up my usual process and try something new. I’ve always started songs at the piano, but having a dance beat to vibe with has been an exciting way to spark creativity as I stare at the blank page
