We had the pleasure of interviewing this very talented young lady. Check out the interview below.

Julianne Collins HeadshotHi, Julianne! It is a pleasure to speak with you. Thank you for granting the interview. What inspired you to become an actress?

As far back as I can remember, this is what I’ve wanted to do. I remember watching TV when I was younger, wanting to be on my own show. I loved making people laugh, and I knew that on TV I could make a lot more people laugh. Of course, now that I’m a little older, I know not everything on TV is a comedy, but I still love to entertain.

Who is your biggest influence in the industry and why?

I’d have to say Zendaya is one. She turned her Disney career into more than just being on screen. She’s always on the top of her game and making career moves to further herself. She’s an icon. J.K. Rowling, for being able to create a huge pop culture reference with 7 books, 8 movies, and a play. Also, Mel Brooks, he created comedies, like Spaceballs and Young Frankenstein, that stood the test of time and shaped generations.

Where did you study acting?

I started off in theatre in Arizona, performing riveting roles such as the letter ‘I’ in Alice in Wonderland, and Pirate #3 in Treasure Island. After coming to Los Angeles, I’ve been fortunate enough to work with wonderful coaches to help me grow as an actor. As much as I love all the coaches I’ve had, Amy Lyndon was the one to show me how much more I truly had in me.

What do you enjoy most about acting?

This is a hard question to answer because I have to choose a favorite part. It’s impossible for me to choose, but I have to say something. I love the effect an actor’s work can have on people, whether it be a sad movie sticking with you, or a fluffy comedy making your cheeks hurt from laughing. I love being able to give someone a piece of work that makes them feel something.

Is there a role you would love to play?

John Wick’s daughter. He doesn’t have one yet, but a father-daughter fighting team would be super cool.

You’re also a fight choreographer with a background in several areas of the martial arts, including Tae Kwon Do and Kickboxing. Have you considered doing stunt work?

Yes and no. I would love to be able to do most of my stunts, and nearly all of the fighting scenes, but focusing on stunt work has never been my goal. Everyone who works in stunts is so strong, mentally and physically. I have so much respect for that part of filmmaking, and I love seeing all the crazy new things that members of the stunt community throw into movies these days.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Recently I picked up the guitar, and I have fun playing that, even if I’m not the best at it yet. Other than that, a huge hobby is reading. I’ve read three books in the past few weeks, it’s like I’m addicted. Growing up my mom would yell at me to put the book down and come to dinner. Sometimes she still does.

Julianne CollinsIf you could star in the next Marvel or DC movie, what superhero would you like to play and why?

All of these tough questions, jeez! Most of the DC ladies are taken, and I’ve always wanted to be Starfire, but playing Batgirl would be amazing. They’re both strong women who know how to do what is right, and that’s awesome. If I played a Marvel hero, probably Spidergirl aka Spider-Gwen. I may be afraid of spiders, but at least I’d be a hero!

Yes, we like to ask solid questions. 🙂 Are there any projects you would like to add that we haven’t mentioned?

California’s, a documentary covering sex trafficking in California, recently showed at the Riverside International Film Festival. I played one of the survivors when she was younger. It also made it into the Los Angeles Women’s International Film Festival, the Oakland International Film Festival, Nepal Human Rights International Film Festival, Newport Beach Film Festival, as well as winning Best Documentary at Angeles Documentaries. In June, it will also be screened in the White House in front of Congress to pitch new laws to help the youth.

That is awesome! Complete this sentence, if I had an opportunity to do anything I want, I would do ___________.

I would direct and star in my own action film series, like Bourne or John Wick. Secondly, I’d want to continue supporting children affected by sex trafficking, helping them escape and heal.
