Hi, Michael! You have a new movie releasing soon that you directed. Tell us more about Fishbowl California.
Fishbowl California is a ‘dramedy’ about a guy named Rodney who finds purpose in life from a drunk, ailing widow. It’s my directorial debut, and I’m really excited about it!
What should the audience expect to see?
You should expect to see some familiar faces! We had such fun casting the film, from having: Katrina Bowden (30 Rock), Kate Flannery (The Office), Tim Bagley (Grace & Frankie) and more.
It is set to release May 1st it’s going to release on iTunes. Any plans for a premiere?
We’re releasing nationwide May 1st, On DVD/Blu-Ray, VOD/ Digital. We did a few screenings in the last few months. We premiered the film at The Columbus International Film and Animation festival this past March.
Before acting and directing, what was your profession?
I actually went to school for Radio and Television. I had a job in Los Angeles at a radio station right out of school. I realized it wasn’t my dream, and instead pursued film.
What inspired you to act?
I started off as an extra on many productions in my later teens. I naturally enjoy making people laugh and so I thought getting paid to entertain and make people laugh wasn’t a bad career to get into!
What do you love most about acting?
Making people “feel” things is one of my favorite things about acting. To make a person laugh and cry at the same time is quite powerful.
You’re an avid writer and filmmaker, who continuously hones his craft. What keeps you inspired?
Following my favorite filmmakers continuously keeps me inspired. Oh, and a LOT of people watching!
Do you have any upcoming projects that we haven’t mentioned?
I have a script I co-wrote called “Big Small World” that I anticipate producing late this year.

Travel the world. To be able to disconnect once in a while from Los Angeles and entertainment is super important. I live in a city that’s always hustling and moving. We all need a time out once in a while.
