Easy V –New Web Series Season 1
Regina-born actor and writer Carly MacIsaac and Toronto based producer and director Natalie Novak have launched “Easy V”, a web-series on the new YouTube channel “Then She Said”. “Easy V” follows Vienna, an impulsive Toronto “wannabe artist” dragged into adulthood kicking and screaming.
The new YouTube channel is committed to augmenting the visibility of Canadian female filmmakers. Co-produced with filmmaker and web developer Suzette McCanny, it will provide a platform to projects where 3 out of the 5 following roles are filled by women; writer, director, producer, cinematographer and/or editor. Easy V is it’s inaugural project. Then She Said will be releasing an emerging female filmmaker grant later this summer called the “Then She Said- Pay it Forward” grant of $3,000.00.
MacIsaac’s experience finding her bearings in Toronto, after moving from the prairies, prompted her to write the show. “Writing about that sticky transitional period while it was still fresh was really important to me. It was meant to be a show for young people – made by young people.”
The soundtrack is stacked with regional Toronto talent including featured artists Boland and Brooklyn Doran, who also make appearances in the series as themselves. DCF, Jane’s Party, The Kents, and Lex Leosis provide an indie-pop and hip-hop soundtrack to the series which serves as the backdrop for Vienna’s coming-of-age story. Just under 40 minutes long, the series provides the perfect mini-binge leading up to summer.
