We had the fantastic opportunity to chat with Anna Harr about her starring role in Krampus Origins. Check out the interview below.
You’re building an impressive resume for yourself. How have you been choosing your projects?
Honestly, I have just been really lucky to have good opportunities come my way. I also love to work with people I have worked with before like Robert Conway, so I guess that is a factor when choosing projects.
You’ve done a few horror and sci-fi films. How did that happen? Did one just lead to the other?
Yes, I guess one just led to another. I started on one horror film with then some sci-fi action and fantasy, from there I’ve gotten other amazing opportunities, which I’m extremely grateful for.
Tell us about some of the talented filmmakers you’ve worked with?
Well, besides Robert, I have worked for Pearry Teo I believe 4 or 5 times with more in development. I have also worked with James Cullen Bressack on 4 projects with another one coming up. I ‘ve done 3 projects with Zack Ward with another coming up very soon.
Stasis was written and directed by Nicole Jones Dion, she was great, and I’d love to work with her again. So I’ve been very lucky to get to work with some very talented and fun people.
And how did Krampus Origins come to be?
Well, I have known Robert Conway from a previous project I worked on called Rhea, it’s a young adult, sci-fi action movie, where I play the lead character, Rhea. He wrote and directed that one. It should be coming out very soon. So he told me that he wanted me in Krampus Origins and right away I was very excited to work with him again because he was great, and I loved working with him on the set of “Rhea.”
Do you feel that this film delivers a unique twist on the Krampus mythology?
Yes, I do believe that this film does have a unique twist of the tale of Krampus, is set during WWI and taking place in an orphanage surrounded by children, none of the other Krampus films have had a setting like that, as far as I know.
What should the audience expect?
A fun time!
What did you do to prepare for the role?
I did some research on the legend of Krampus because prior to the film, I knew what Krampus was, I just didn’t completely understand it. I also familiarized myself with the script and worked on my character, Adelia and her background.
Horror films can evoke all kinds of emotions. How do you unwind after starring in a horror movie, where blood and gore is the focus?
The horror aspect of the film didn’t really affect me, so I didn’t have to wind down or anything.
Thus far, what has been the best experience working in the industry?
The best thing about working in the industry is meeting all different types of people that you will remember for a lifetime. Like on Krampus, I met new people who are now good friends, and I love that. On set you get very close to the actors and the crew because you are around them for hours every day for weeks at a time, so you really get to bond with them.
Do you have any upcoming projects that we haven’t mentioned?
Yes, I do have a few upcoming projects. Not sure how much I can say about them, however, I am really excited to get back on set soon. I am currently prepping as one of the leads for an adventure fantasy film that starts shooting in two weeks so I am very happy about that! I’m also thrilled to say I’ll be working with writer-director Robert Conway again in January as one of the leads in his new Western, Eminence Hill! keep an eye out for that one!
