We had the wonderful opportunity to chat with actor Isaiah C. Morgan. Check out the interview below.
Hi, Isaiah! Thank you for granting the interview. Congrats on your recurring role on Season 3 of HBO’s “True Detective.” What should the audience expect to see?
It’s a mystery thriller that will keep you thinking and wondering.
Tell us about Henry. Who is he? What is his personality like?
Henry Hays is the son of Detective Wayne Hays and school teacher Amelia Reardon. Henry’s a great kid and looks out for his little sister Becca.
What role does Henry play in the series?
Young Henry is a kid who seeks the attention of his father, Wayne Hays who is busy working on a case for work. Henry like drawing, working in the garden with his mom and playing with his sister.
Was it a challenge to play Henry?
I had no challenges playing this role. It came to me naturally.
How did you get the role?
I audition for the role.
The subject matter of the series is heartfelt. How does the second season’s production bring something new to a crime series?
It’s a plot twist in the story. The audience will have a lot of suspects. Just follow the clues. Don’t want to give much information.
What is going to surprise people about Henry?
The surprises will come when he is an adult.
Without giving anything away, what’s your favorite line of dialogue and why?
I really don’t have a favorite, cause a lot of lines stand out for me. But I did like when Roland said, ” Wasn’t planning on it”. The character Roland has a lot of lines that stands out to me, especially the funny ones.
When looking back on the production, what resonated with you the most and why?
The beginning of the storyline, when the kids went missing. I felt sadden.
In your opinion, what scene in the series is going to blow people away and why?
I think close to the end of episode 4, will really blow people away. Can’t tell why you’ll have to watch.
What do you enjoy most about your character and role?
I enjoyed that I can just be myself and act natural. I had fun bringing this character to life.
Do you have anything else you would like to share about the series?
This season is going to be great, with an awesome cast. It will keep you on your toes trying to figure out the clues and who did it.
You’re also starring two feature films in 2019 – Uncle Ed’s Bucket List and Roads, Trees, and Honey Bees. Tell us about the films.
Uncle Ed’s Bucket List is an adult comedy about a young boy that parents died and he had to go live with his Godfather Ed to raise him. Uncle Ed is a crazy guy with bad advice.
Roads, Trees, and Honey Bees is about a Wisconsin father that need to travel cross country to see his dementia-ridden father. He is joined with friends on this trip with unexpected turns.
Do you have anything else you would like to share about your career?
