Director Joey Travolta’s Carol Of The Bell’s will ring the bells of inspiration in your heart. Joey, brother of John Travolta, has built up an impressive TV/movie repertoire that includes working on Beverly Hills Cop III, Amazon Women On The Moon and Oscar. He’s best known for his activism and work with individuals with developmental disabilities.
You’ll see an incredible cast of actors in this humble and emotional film. The commanding ensemble of actors includes Breaking Bad’s RJ Mitte, Yuly Mireles, Donna Pescow, Elijah Maximus, Geri Jewell, and Donna Mills. Their performances will amaze you and give some of today’s “red carpet” able-bodied actors a good run for their acting chops. Yes, the cast is just that good.
The film starts off with Scott, a tortured young family man, having a flashback of tragic events during his childhood. Scott was only five years old when his adoptive parents were killed in a tragic car accident at Christmas. From then on, he went into various foster homes until his adulthood. In spite of his childhood tragedies, Scott (RJ Mitte) is a successful business owner who’s also anti-Christmas. All he wants is a peaceful life for himself, his little son Jeremy (Elijah Maximus), and pregnant wife Karen (Yuly Mireles). Karen is a strong wife who seeks the truth about Scott. She wants to know more about his past of perpetual pain and takes matters into her own hands. Scott has been seeking the truth about his past and his biological mother with downs syndrome. Does Scott find the courage to face the truth and conquer his pain? No spoilers here! Some films are worth seeing for oneself.
Now, with that said, for anyone who’s looking for a movie that’s more ‘knock them down, drag them out and “kill them up”, this isn’t it. Carol of The Bells is a strong film that will incite anyone with or without a “disability.” It is full of inspiration in a time of trouble.
