Belgian artist and songwriter Yves Paquet delivers a new sound with his new single 25-28. Released under Universal Music, the alternative pop song was produced by London-based producer Ant Whiting (M.I.A, John Newman, Ella Eyre)
Paquet first came to public attention in 2016 by winning the European Song Contest with his song “Meine Stadt”. Inspired by albums listened to be his father (The Police, Genesis, Semisonic, New Radicals), he has fused such artists with his love for pop music, giving birth to an organic sound that reinvents 90s alternative pop. A bonafide summer song with hooks aplenty, his new single 25-28 marks the beginning of this new era, with a touch of nostalgia. Its memorable up-tempo beat is accompanied by the singer’s gift of composing lyrics that elucidate the complexities of love .. and lust! “I grew up in a village in the countryside, like many villages in Belgium. The song is kind of a Mrs. Robinson story about how (mostly) your first summer fling in your small hometown or village isn’t the big love of your life. It’s not the end of the world but at that time it feels like that. I wanted to capture the sound of summer in my youth”, Yves explains, promising more music for the rest of 2020.
The video, directed by French visual artist and motion designer Jules Guérin, sets Yves in a dreamy summer vibe aesthetic, traveling through landscapes of colors, shapes, and textures.
