Bristol-based heavy-pop four-piece Bitter Kisses have released their debut single ‘Pr*y’. Formed in 2022, the band features Gemma Tracey (Vocals) Thomas Adams (Bass / Vocals) Josh Butcher (Guitar / Vocals), and Scarlett Cawley on Drums.

The Band’s debut was in August at Bridgwater’s ‘We Hear You Fest’. Since then, the group has quickly made a mark with high-energy live shows and a synth-infused blend of Dark Pop and Goth Rock. Describing themselves as “Pop music you can beat your friends up to”, the track was recorded with Josh Gallop (Phoxjaw, Mother Vulture) at Stage 2 Studios, and mixed and mastered by Tom Cory (Novatines, Superlove), Pr*y (Prey) is explosive and heavy yet infectiously catchy in equal measure.

Reflecting on the inspiration behind the single the band state, Pr*y was partially inspired by a fever dream in which Lady Gaga collaborated with Queens of the Stone Age to produce a new Earth Wind And Fire song. When writing Pr*y the band wanted to create a track that could ambiguously explore the difference in meanings of the words ‘prey’ and ‘pray’, and how they each apply to dangerous or unhealthy relationships. One person could worship another, while at the same time being preyed upon by the subject of their love.  The meaning of the lyrics can change depending on which meaning of prey( or pray) you want to hear whenever they’re used in the song.

Alongside the single comes the track’s music video, inspired by David Lynch-style psychedelic and surrealist films. The entire set and props included were created by the band themselves in a true DIY fashion.

‘Pr*y’ is available on all streaming platforms
