Singer-Songwriter Laye has always loved the word “blue.” Labeling it melancholic, she describes it as a piece of ink etched into her skin.
Her song of the same title is a remorseful reflection on a breakup, written from the perspective of someone who felt they weren’t the best version of themselves for a person who deserved this the most.
Describing the track the artist shares, ‘It’s for the lovers that are trying to unlearn past toxic tendencies. For some reason, I have a fixation on loneliness when it comes to writing and my music. Even when I’ve been in love, I can’t help but write from the point of view of losing that love. I feel like that’s when you realize how vulnerable you are, when you’re in the midst of something great – you realize what’s at stake’.
Laye collaborated with fellow artists Stevie Aiello and Cici Ward to bring “blue” to life. You can hear this new cinematic sad soundscape on your preferred streaming platform.
