Born and raised in Lower Manhattan’s vibrant Battery Park City neighborhood, Asha Maclean was immersed in the arts from an early age. Growing up in one of the world’s most creative cities, her home and school life nurtured her artistic spirit. “My mom is a visual artist,” Asha shares, “and my dad worked with people in the music industry and was an artist himself.” Her parents introduced her to legendary artists like Michael Jackson, Prince, and iconic ’90s R&B acts, sparking her love for music. “The sound of the greats inspired me to start singing,” she recalls.
Asha’s middle school further fueled her creativity with a curriculum that rotated between dance, singing, digital art, and visual arts. Drawn most to singing and dance, she spent countless hours practicing in her room, perfecting karaoke-style performances and choreographing her own routines. By high school, Asha began recording covers and sharing them on Instagram. One pivotal moment came at age 14 when her cover of a Billie Eilish song caught the attention of Grammy-winning producer Charles Farrar, known for his work with Tyrese, Boyz II Men, B2K, and SWV. Under his mentorship at VYRUS MEDIA, Asha is now blossoming into a rising star with a sound that reflects her vibrant and soulful roots.
Her latest track, “Yoga,” showcases Asha’s hypnotic, silky-smooth vocals, gliding effortlessly over a kaleidoscope of colorful dance beats. The song blends the infectious energy of pop with the intoxicating essence of ’90s R&B. Thematically, “Yoga” captures the emotional push and pull of a relationship, echoing the euphoric highs and soul-stirring lows. It mirrors the beautiful chaos of modern love, striking a perfect balance—just like mastering a challenging yoga pose. Asha Maclean is proving to be an artist to watch, with a sound as dynamic and captivating as her journey.
