Bristol’s own Oswald Slain are set to make their mark with the release of their debut album, ‘Bucky’, arriving October 24th, 2025, on limited edition vinyl.
Emerging from the creative cocoon of their home studio, Oswald Slain’s music is a testament to personal growth and musical evolution. The band’s latest work reflects a period of deep introspection, as they reconcile the chaos of youth with the realities of growing older. Lyricist Fitz channels these experiences into songwriting that is sincere, humorous, and evocative, all set against the timeless swagger of retro rock influences.
.
Earlier this year, the band’s debut five-track EP ‘Kiss Me On The Mouth’ captured the attention of Asbo Magazine, RTE, Fame Magazine, KUTX, Sirius XM, Rough Trade’s ‘Counter Culture’, Ones To Watch, and Apple editorial’s ‘New In Rock’. The buzz around Oswald Slain has only grown since, setting the stage for a highly anticipated album launch.
‘Bucky’ was recorded and produced in-house by Ryan Rogers (Mumble Tide) and the band themselves, in their DIY, self-built home studio. The album was mixed by John Logan and mastered by Jason Mitchell at Loud Mastering (noted for work with PJ Harvey, XTC, and Big Special). For Fitzgerald and Williams—partners in both life and music—the debut record is more than a collection of songs; it’s a heartfelt love letter to their own trials, errors, and ongoing journey of self and musical exploration. The album perfectly captures the band’s striking evolution from their previous incarnation.
.
Across eight tracks, Oswald Slain blends sleazy rhythms, driving drums, nostalgic guitar lines, and the evocative lyricism that’s quickly becoming their signature. ‘Bucky’ is a celebration of personal flaws and flamboyant failures, ultimately leading to a sense of hard-won self-acceptance. With this debut, Oswald Slain invites listeners to join them on a raw, honest, and deeply relatable rock journey.
