NYC’s genre-defying collective Ecce Shnak return with ‘Katy’s Wart,’ a bold new release that explores justice through vivid storytelling and groundbreaking animation. The project arrives in two distinct forms: a punchy three-minute animated music feelm version and an immersive ten-minute extended feelm version, which delves deeper into the dramatic backstory of a sharply dressed stalker and his ultimate fate. Directed by Hollye Bynum, Sam Owens, and the band’s own David Roush, the narrative follows twin sisters on a quest for justice, joined by five purple goddesses of vengeance—all brought to life with dazzling animation from the creative powerhouse Titmouse Productions.

This latest release follows a breakout year for Ecce Shnak, who have firmly established themselves as one of indie’s most exciting forces. In 2025, the band dropped their acclaimed ‘Shadows Grow Fangs’ EP and the live ‘Backroom Sessions’ EP, while also lighting up dance floors with collaborations alongside DJs Eskei83 and Madison Mars. Their momentum only grew after a U.S. tour supporting alt-rock icons Spacehog and EMF, and a feature on EMF’s queer-positive anthem ‘LGBTQ+ Lover.’
.
Now, with ‘Katy’s Wart,’ Ecce Shnak are firing on all cylinders as they build anticipation for their upcoming full-length album, ‘Dandy Variances,’ set for release later this year. The band’s fearless creativity and willingness to blur genre lines promise even more surprises ahead.
