Kidsmoke

Kidsmoke’s rise has been quietly extraordinary—one of those stories that reminds you how far a band can travel when they stay true to their own atmosphere. Hailing from North Wales, their shimmering, dream-drenched indie-pop has already found its way into some seriously iconic spaces: a sync on Charlie Brooker’s Netflix series Black Mirror, a Breaking Act feature in The Sunday Times, an invitation from Robert Smith of The Cure to perform at his Meltdown Festival, and a track selected by Steve Lamacq as one of his 6Music Recommends picks of the year. Step by step, moment by moment, Kidsmoke have been building something lasting—captivating audiences on both sides of the Atlantic and proving that subtlety can still make a huge impact.

They return with “I’m Always Getting Carried Away,” a shimmering new single and their first release since their acclaimed debut album A Vision In The Dark. Written on New Year’s Day, the track arrives with that specific kind of energy only a turning point can bring—equal parts urgency and renewal, like a deep breath taken right before the next chapter begins.
The song’s emotional pull comes from the dual meaning woven into its title. “Getting carried away” becomes both a familiar human moment—being swept up in feeling—and something more physical, more final. Kidsmoke holds that tension beautifully. The music glows with bright melody and dreamlike ease, yet underneath it sits a quiet weight: reflections on memory, mortality, and the way time keeps moving whether we’re ready or not.
.
Vocalist and guitarist Lance Williams describes how naturally the words arrived:
“The lyrics came really quickly and are built around the song’s title, playing with the meaning of being ‘carried away’, whether it be emotionally or physically.”
That honesty—simple, direct, unforced—feels like the heart of the track. But there’s another layer too, shaped by Williams’ experience visiting a dementia support group, an encounter that brought the fragility of memory into sharp focus.
“It was both beautiful and heartbreaking,” he says. “It made me appreciate how our memories bind us together… I think I was trying to highlight how precious the little moments are.”
.
And that’s what makes “I’m Always Getting Carried Away” land the way it does: it doesn’t just sound good—it means something. It’s a reminder to hold your people closer, to pay attention to the small details, to treat the everyday like it matters—because it does. Kidsmoke aren’t only returning with a new single; they’re offering a gentle nudge to be present while we can, and to let music be one of the ways we remember what we’re here for.
