SINE

Today, Occhi spotlights the Austin, Texas-based electronic artist SINE—also known as Rona Rougeheart—steps into a sharper, more cinematic era with the release of her new solo album La Mordre, out today via Metropolis Records. It’s a record that doesn’t just expand her sound; it widens her world. Here, Rougeheart blurs genre boundaries with intent, building a seductive narrative around the lure of stardom and the stories that cling to it: lust, desire, control, obsession, and the slow, glittering pull of surrender.

Rougeheart has long been a boundary-pusher, and she describes her sonic lane as “Electronic Boom”—a style that fuses sub bass, heavy beats, and groove-forward momentum with industrial bite. But what truly sets SINE apart is the voice behind the machine: lyrics that cut with sarcasm and humour, then pivot into something more serious without losing their edge. It’s that balance—playful and brutal, glossy and grim—that makes La Mordre feel like a step up into a more expansive phase of her artistry.

“When I started to gather the demos that I really wanted to include on the album, I saw a story unfolding,” Rougeheart explains. “The songs, in order, put together a picture of someone navigating a new and exciting but seemingly treacherous path with eyes on this ‘big prize’ or breakthrough—and they’ll do anything to get it. It’s a seductive tale with vampiric tendencies and a little loosening of moral values; a glittery story that will hopefully make you want to know more.”

That “vampiric” thread is key. La Mordre doesn’t treat fame as a clean ascent—it frames it as a kind of beautiful danger, the sort of dream that can feed on you while you’re busy chasing it. The album plays like a sequence of scenes: temptation dressed as opportunity, desire disguised as destiny, and the creeping question of what you’re willing to trade for the spotlight.

The production credits reflect the record’s range and weight. La Mordre includes several self-produced tracks, alongside songs co-produced with Curse Mackey (Pigface, My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult) and AwareNess (calm.). The album is mastered by Mark Pistel (Consolidated, Meat Beat Manifesto), adding a final polish that still leaves room for grit—like chrome with fingerprints left on it.

The release also gathers four previously released singles—“Trauma Bondage,” “Succumb To Me,” “Blood + Wine,” and “Cruel”—tracks that already hinted at the album’s themes of seduction and power, and now land with fuller context inside the larger story Rougeheart is telling.

To bring La Mordre to the stage, SINE will tour the U.S. this August on the Divine Creatures Tour with Seattle-based act Nuda, with Curse Mackey joining as DJ at select shows. If the album is any indication, audiences should expect something immersive—music that moves the body while quietly tightening its grip on the mind.

La Mordre is out now on Metropolis Records.
