Rescheduled for this Saturday, 19 September. World Heart Beat presents Marcelo Bratke. Marcelo Bratke is an internationally acclaimed Brazilian pianist who began studying at 14 and made his orchestral debut two years later with the São Paulo State Symphony Orchestra, earning the APCA Revelation Pianist Award. Since his European debut at the Salzburg Festival in 1988, he has performed at major venues including Wigmore Hall, Konzerthaus Berlin, and Carnegie Hall, and has collaborated with leading conductors and artists worldwide.

This multimedia concert opens with a documentary introducing Bratke and Mariannita Luzzati’s unique artistic and humanistic project, Cinemúsica—an initiative that saw them perform in 10 prisons across the State of São Paulo, Brazil, bringing a new educational and philosophical approach to the Brazilian penitentiary system.

The evening then continues with a piano recital featuring nature-inspired music by Heitor Villa-Lobos, performed live by Bratke alongside immersive, nature-led visuals created for the project by Luzzati—an experience that brings sound and image together in a powerful, reflective dialogue.

Cinemúsica has been presented internationally at venues and festivals including Theatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro, Brotfabrik Concerts in Frankfurt, Performing the World Festival in New York, and the Sarajevo Winter Music Festival, where it received the Art of Touch Award. The project has also been recognised with the 14th Brazilian International Press Award in London.
