TAASE, the UK Animated Shorts & Comics from Africa Festival, is a vibrant trans-cultural celebration of animation and comic art, made for African and non-African audiences alike. The festival believes these two forms can inspire, educate, and bring people together like no other medium. So whether you’ve read comics for years, have never picked up a graphic novel, or have always assumed animation isn’t really for you, the promise here is simple: there is something in this for you.
TAASEFest’26 arrives with an unforgettable line-up of original animated shorts from across the African continent, shown on the big screen in a cinema experience built to astonish. Expect a diverse range of films, rich in storytelling and artistic talent, that will pull you into the vibrant world of African animation and leave you thinking about it long after the credits roll.
It all takes place on Saturday 14 November 2026 at Showcase Cinema, Bluewater Parkway, Dartford DA9 9ST. Workshop and taster sessions begin at 13:00, a chance to get hands-on and see how these worlds are made, and the main screening follows at 14:00. Go for one, stay for both, and take someone along who has never thought animation was for them. They might just change their mind.
