Waylon Kevin Sizemore is a small town guy, who continues to stay true to his roots. Born and raised in the small town of Princeton, WV, to a middle class family and one older brother.  Sizemore was cast in a Maxwell House Coffee commercial his senior year of high school, and knew at that point he wanted to be an actor. He attended The Art Institute of Pittsburgh and received a degree in communication,s while moonlighting as an extra on films. After graduation, Sizemore lived in 5 states in 5 years doing plays, commercials and learning as much as he could about the business. The summer after studying at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, he decided to make Los Angeles his home away from home.

On the small screen, Sizemore is known as Anthony, the US Air Marshall on the Emmy nominated series Fear the Walking Dead: Flight 462 (2015), as well as the hot headed Gary Humphrey on the series Resurrection (2014). He’s created many memorable characters on shows such as Rizzoli & Isles (2010), Under the Dome (2013), Drop Dead Diva (2009) and Weeds (2005) to name a few. On the big screen, Sizemore is remembered as the energetic Coach Jerry Stearns from the football movie Woodlawn (2015). Over the years, Kevin has gained a reputation for playing characters with a checkered past and individuals who are emotionally wounded that struggle to find peace within, he also has a unique ability to have audiences love to hate his characters.

In 2016, Trew Calling (2016). marked the first feature that he co-produced under GKg Productions. Since then, he has co-produced the action adventure indie film Hospice (2017) and the holiday film Believe (2016).

We had an opportunity to speak with Kevin. Check out the interview below.

Hi, Kevin! It’s a pleasure to meet you. You’re currently in the movie “The Case for Christ,” which is in theaters now. “C4C” is based on a true story about an investigative journalist and self-proclaimed atheist named Lee Strobel (Mike Vogel) and he sets out to disprove the existence of God after his wife (Erika Christensen) becomes a Christian.” Tell us about your role as Dr. Gary Habermas.

Dr. Habermas is a distinguished professor of Apologetics and Philosophy currently at Liberty University in Lynchberg, VA.   He’s a very intelligent man who’s co-authored 35 books on religious and philosophical subjects.  I wanted to approach this character as honestly as I could within the time frame given me which was (2 days) before shooting. The most difficult part was that I don’t speak the way Dr. Habermas speaks on a regular basis. The dialogue that Brian Bird (When Calls the Heart) wrote when adapting the book took some time for me to adjust to, but was so interesting.  The entire time my character has a comeback for why Jesus is real and is one of the reasons why Lee Strobel makes the decision to believe. Jon Gunn directed the film and it was great getting to work with him and see his vision for the film.  Triple Horse Studios produced it and I have another film we did together called Sweet Sweet Summertime that will be out later this year.

The Case For Christ is in theaters now. Check your local listings.

You also have another film that was recently in the theaters that you acted in and helped produce that released on DVD April 11th called “Believe.” Could you tell us more?

I play Albert Bagley, a man who is an accountant for a large company in the small town of Grundy, VA.  We come to find out that Albert has been stealing money from the boss Matthew Peyton (Ryan O’Quinn) and his new secretary Sharon (Danielle Nicolet) is the one who makes the discovery.  The story takes place during Christmas time and we know how important family can be through the eyes of a 12 year old child CJ, (Issac Ryan Brown) and how important doing the right things in life are.  It’s a great family film for all ages.

Let’s talk “Trew Calling.” The film marks your debut as your first feature co-produced by you under GKg Productions. What inspired the production?

When director Greg Robbins agreed that I was his guy for the film, we had many conversations about the direction and style of the film. One thing led to another and we quickly agreed that Kimber Eastwood, Greg and I would team up and produce this film. We worked with ND Studios in Buffalo, and it was so much fun shooting there.  Can’t wait to go back to work again.

OK, let’s talk “Hospice” a film you acted in and also helped produce.  According to IMDB, ‘three low-life criminals attempt to rob an elderly dying woman’s home, but her live-in nurse turns out to be much more trouble than they bargained for.’ Tell us about your character Seth.

Seth is a BAD DUDE!  He and his better half Jose Rosete set up there long time buddy Danny (Jai Rodriguez) to steal some money for them.  Little do they know that the elderly woman (Leslie Easterbrook) has a care giver Alex (Tara Macken) who has something different in store.  This has been a plan set up by her boss played by Darrin Henson.  It’s an action packed, adventure-thriller that will make you laugh.  Jared Bentley directed and wrote it w/ Darrin Scane and Eric Storlie.  I was grateful to help be part of the producing team and fyi….it was decided that the new title for Hospice will now be “The Care Giver”…..so you heard it first!

Check out Hospice.

After a successful film and television run, we noticed you’re doing a lot of producing.  In fact, you are co-writing “When Heaven and Hell Collide.” We know you can’t discuss the project, so let’s talk about what inspired the script.

This is a film that I collaborated on with writer / director Greg Robbins about a soldier who comes home to help his fellow soldiers at the VA.   This is a passion piece that is in development.

You continuously hone your craft. What keeps you inspired?

Knowing that people enjoy the characters I play is really great.  I’m so fortunate to be able to work as much as I do and play so many different roles.  This week I was just cast by Dea Vise in the film Reach directed by Jarret Tarnol and produced by Autumn Bailey, Charles Box and Maria Capp.  I get to play an ex-cop who’s become an alcoholic and has a horrible relationship with his son Nick (Jordan Doww) and it’s about kids getting bullied.  What’s great about this is it is Jordan’s first feature.  We’re having a blast working on this together and I get to share advice if he asks for it.  Also, to see him grow on a daily basis on set is the best.  Seeing younger actors do a scene and nail it is awesome.  It’s like the light bulb turns on and they can start to explore their character and have fun.

Thus far, what has been the best experience working in the industry?

I actually have three:

Dong the movie Woodlawn that was out last year was amazing.  Not only do I love football movies, but to be on set with Jon Voight, Sean Astin, Sherri Shepherd, Nic Bishop and Caleb Castille, who was one of those first timers I mentioned above.  He has soared and it’s so cool to know that I was there when he was starting out.  I thank Andy-Jon Erwin for bringing me in on that film. It was a dream job!

Check out Woodlawn.

My next one would be the film that’s winning a lot of festivals now called Domain a Sci-Fi, Action Thriller directed and written by Nathaniel Atcheson and I co-star alongside Britt Lower, Ryan Merriman, Nic Gomez and many fantastic actors.  Shooting the whole movie the way they did was genius .  I can’t go into detail because I’ll give the story away, but my first day on set we did 10 pages of dialogue 72 times 12 hours straight…..and it wasn’t because actors were messing up lines.  THE FILM IS BRILLIANT!

Lastly, is when I did  Fear The Walking Dead: Flight 462 and got to fight some zombies on an airplane.  When I walked into audition, the casting director April Webster said “Thanks for coming in Kevin and just so you know . . . this is for FTWD” and then opened the door!  I didn’t have time to think and just went at it.  The cast and I still stay in touch, we continue to go to another showcases, premiers and get together for dinners; a great team that feels like a family and I’m grateful to have been cast on that show.

Check out  Fear The Walking Dead: Flight 462

Do you have any upcoming projects that we haven’t mentioned?

I have the film Submission about two marines make it home from ISIS and get back to their roots of MMA.  The script was written by Scott Pryor and directed by J.M. Berrios.  I also just completed the coal mining movie “Mine 9” by Edward Mensore and my fellow coalminers were Terry Serpico, Mark Ashworth, Clint James and newcomer Drew Starkey.  This is a personal film for the director and I because it takes place in WV, were we were both born and raised.

Check out Submission.

Complete this sentence; if I had an opportunity to do anything I want, I would DIRECT.

I’m actually making that come true this year. I’m in pre-production on my directing debut called  The Seven.  Can’t give too much away, other than it takes place in one location and it will be a drama.
