Set in an alternate world during the present time, Humans, Orcs, Elves, and Fairies coexist. LAPD officers Daryl Ward (Will Smith) and Nick Jakoby (Joel Edgerton) are partners, who must overcome cultural differences and battle a world of unusual enemies. They must protect a female elf that holds an assumed lost relic. In the wrong hands, it could be disastrous.

Nadia Gray plays Larika, an Elf member of The Inferni. “Bright” is a scifi and fantasy, action, crime thriller directed by David Ayer. Ayer is best known for “Suicide Squad,” “Fury,” and “End of Watch.” The original film was created for Netflix and will release on December 22, 2017.

Gray was born in Clearwater, Florida. She began modeling at age 17 and moved to Los Angeles when she was 20 to pursue acting. In her spare time, she loves to be at home with her two dogs, watch movies, cook, and put her feet up with a cocktail.

We had an opportunity to speak with Nadia about “Bright.” Check out the interview below.

How did you get started in acting?

I got started in acting as a child just watching movies, I think. I’ve always been obsessed since I was young but I wasn’t sure it was something I could realistically pursue. I finally moved from Florida to LA when I was 20 without knowing anyone or anything about the business. It took awhile for me to figure out the basic necessities were gaining proper representation to even get the chance to audition, and just having patience. You’re not going to go to Starbucks looking fabulous and get discovered. I had to learn fast to compartmentalize the rejection.

We are excited for “Bright”. Could you share some teasers about the film?

Teasers?! I’m too afraid Netflix will find me and kill me!

Oh, no! We can’t allow that to happen! Share what you deem is safe!

I can confidently say that this movie will be huge. It wouldn’t surprise me if it were Netflix’s next big franchise.

Well said! We wouldn’t be surprised either. You are in the film with an awesome cast, such as Will Smith, Joel Edgerton, and Noomi Rapace. You play Larika, and Elf and member of “The Inferni.” What can you tell us about your character and role?

Larika is a badass! It was so much fun playing a villain, and physicality of that. In my opinion, the most badass chick on set was Noomi. She is so impressive, and even just seeing her in full makeup and wardrobe, you’re just like, “Holy crap!! You’re terrifying!”All the attention to detail in every single one of these characters is so next level. I’ve never seen anything like it. I think the fans will absolutely lose themselves in this world.

This is a huge production. We know costuming will be amazing. Tell us about your wardrobe.

Yes! Again, the attention to detail. The wardrobe was so sick, I kept asking costumes if I could buy everything from them! Larika and the Inferni are very high society with their badassery, so I was head to toe in these plush amazing suits. A lot of jewel tones, high-end jewelry, and heels, etc.

Well, Elves are supposed to look regal! At least, that’s how many people visualize Elves thanks to Tolkien. We know the makeup must be amazing! How long is the makeup process to create Larika?

The makeup process was at least two hours long. The artists behind creating these looks are the best in the business. With the makeup, Elf ears and wig design, it was completely transformative. We also were fitted for color contact lenses and sharp teeth, so once you step out of the makeup trailer, you’re ready to go cause some mayhem.

Which leads us to the question about your character’s traits. What is Larika’s personality like?

She is someone who desires power. Without giving away too much, you also see how deep her love is for her gang, who is essentially her family.

Did you undergo any special training?

Ah yes!! I got to train in American Kenpo Karate for the stunt work. This was my first time doing my own stunts, and I have to say, it was the most fun I’ve ever had. I felt so lucky to play this character who was undoubtedly in her power, walking around kicking the snot out of these giant stunt men. I mean, those guys are insanely talented. They really make the actors look good! Honestly, that’s all I want to do now, characters who are physical and can fight and save themselves.

What can the audience expect to see?

The audience can expect to see David Ayer at the top of his game. It’s set in the streets of LA, and nobody does LA better than David. The credibility he brings to that kind of gang ridden, dirty cop sort of atmosphere really makes the viewing experience so authentic. It’s also going to be so much FUN to watch. It’s a kick-ass original story which I think people can really appreciate these days.
