Sunrise Films proudly presents the U.S. theatrical release of Mr. Blake at Your Service, a whimsical and heartfelt French-set comedy-drama starring John Malkovich, legendary French actress Fanny Ardant, and the late Émilie Dequenne.
.
In a rare French-speaking role, Malkovich takes on the character of Andrew Blake, a recently widowed British businessman who becomes a butler at a countryside manor, hoping to stay close to the memory of his beloved French wife. As Blake navigates the eccentricities of the estate and its colorful residents, he embarks on a touching journey of healing, connection, and self-discovery.
Fanny Ardant captivates as Nathalie de Beauvillier, the manor’s enigmatic and unconventional lady, while Émilie Dequenne delivers one of her final performances as Odile, the spirited and warm-hearted cook. Their witty, poignant, and often humorous interactions with Blake form the film’s emotional core.
.
Directed by bestselling author Gilles Legardinier and adapted from his acclaimed 2012 novel Complètement cramé!—with a screenplay by Legardinier and Cristel Henon—the film also features Eugénie Anselin, Al Ginter, Anne Brionne, and Christel Henon.
Mr. Blake at Your Service made its U.S. debut at the Newport Beach Film Festival on October 17, 2023, and has since delighted audiences in theaters across France, Spain, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Australia, and New Zealand, with further festival screenings worldwide.
.
“We’re thrilled to bring the irresistibly charming Mr. Blake at Your Service! to U.S. audiences,” said Andrew Nerger, Head of U.S. and International Distribution. “The film enchanted us from the very first screening, and we’re confident viewers will fall in love with it when it premieres later this June.”
.
Produced by Christel Henon and Lilian Eche for Bidibul Productions in partnership with Superprod, and with Legardinier as co-producer, the film boasts cinematography by Stéphane Le Parc, editing by Yves Deschamps and Chrystel Alépée, and an original score by Erwann Chandon. Bidibul Productions recently produced the 2025 Palme d’Or winner IT WAS JUST AN ACCIDENT by celebrated Iranian director Jafar Panahi. See the film at Quad Cinema in NYC, followed by a June 27 opening at Laemmle Royal in LA, with a broader July rollout to Miami, Chicago, Phoenix, Atlanta, Boise, Santa Barbara, Portland, Lewes, Tulsa, Boston, and additional markets to be announced.
