We can’t say enough about how much we love Hallmark movies, especially during the Holiday season when they do the Countdown to Christmas series. The series was created to evoke the loving spirit in everyone. It shows us the importance of family, good friends, and the importance of giving. Christmas in Homestead is among our favorites!
We are thrilled to have actor Aaron Nelson back for another interview to discuss his character, Gavin, and the heartwarming movie starring Taylor Cole (Jessica McEllis), Michael Rady (Matt Larson), and Brooklyn Rae Silzer (Sophie Larson). Check out the interview below.
Thank you for granting the interview, Aaron! Hallmark’s Countdown to Christmas is one of our favorite things during the Holidays! So, imagine our delight in discovering you’re appearing in Christmas in Homestead! You play Gavin Williams.
Thanks for having me! Hallmark’s Christmas movies are also a big part of my family’s favorites, so I was beyond excited to be a part of it. Christmas in Homestead is a romantic story that unfolds when a film crew arrives in a small town for the shoot of their movie. Greeted by the owner of the local Inn, who also happens to be the town’s mayor, Matt Lawrence (played by Michael Rady) they feel a little less than welcome. Matt fears that the invasion of Hollywood will ruin his small community’s holiday traditions and celebrations of one of the most important holidays, Christmas. And, by the way, the things are going with the crazy shooting schedule, his fears are becoming justified. But, this is a good feel story, so you know things are going to surprise everyone, in a good way!
Tell us about your role and character, Gavin.
As soon as I read the script, I connected with Gavin immediately. While Gavin’s main role is to be Jessica’s (played by Taylor Cole) bodyguard, his true character reveals when he meets and becomes friends with little Sophie (played by Brooklyn Rae Silzer). Gavin had to be both, an intimidating protector and a softy that part takes in tea parties with an 8-year-old girl. Gavin takes on a double role and plays a big part of many twists that Christmas In Homestead has in store.
What is your fondest memory being on the set?
We were on location for 3 weeks, spending a lot of hours on set each day. Sharing the set with such a talented, dedicated, creative cast and crew was amazing! We became a family and there were a lot of fond memories! From snowball fights to skating rink, to town’s famous fudge to Christmas carols, everything about that set was magical. But if I had to choose one, it was shooting the “Tea Party” scene with Sophie. That scene defined Gavin and his purpose in this story. Oh, and “pinky’s out” phrase now has a deeper meaning!
The movie is one of the best love stories produced by Hallmark. It evokes wonder, romance, and finding that special someone. What does the movie mean to you?
Thank you. It feels good to hear that knowing we were able to give you the feel of exactly how the story was written. I have never seen a bad Hallmark movie, but Christmas in Homestead is my favorite, too! I think it’s packed with twists and surprises, while it’s very relatable at the same time. It also goes to show you that no matter where you are from, what you do for a living, or what you believe in, one thing that can always happen unexpectedly is love! That is what makes this love story so magical and so romantic. I have personally experienced a true magic of love and for that, I am exceptionally thankful.
Why should our readers watch the movie?
Christmas in Homestead is a feel-good, family-friendly movie. You can watch it with your kids, amongst friends or make it a special movie date night. It has plenty to keep you interested and suspenseful and put you in a holiday spirit all at once.
What are your Holiday plans?
Holidays means downtime with family. Both my wife and I are from Northeast, so we try to either host everyone at our place or take a trip there to see our families as often as possible. Best time of the year and I am looking forward to it!
Thank you for taking time to speak with us about Christmas in Homestead. Is there anything you would like to add that we haven’t asked?
Thank you again for having me. I love being a part of OCCHI magazine family. I read your articles and follow you guys on all of your social media outlets. Thank you for all that you do. As for me, yes, blessed to have been a part of TV Shows The Gifted, Black Lightning, Bobcat Goldthwait’s Misfits & Monsters. Hope you can watch those shows as well and let’s talk again sometime soon. Happy Holidays and best wishes in 2018!
