We had the amazing opportunity to interview actress Bernadette Beck who plays Peaches ‘N Cream in CW’s Riverdale. Check out the interview below.
Hi, Bernadette! Thank you for granting the interview. Congrats on your role as Peaches ‘N Cream in the current season of the CW’s Riverdale. Tell us about Peaches ‘N Cream. Who is she? What is her personality like?
Peaches ‘N Cream is a bubblegum chewing, bruiser girl, who emanates both power and sass. Peaches is not afraid to get her knuckles scuffed, yet she keeps it glamorous with manicured nails and her iconic dark lip. Her past is rough, involving some deep seeded hatred towards the serpents. This is from the Serpents burglarizing her mother’s pawn shop repeatedly, which eventually went out of business. Peaches is navigating through it all, with the help and support of her gang, the Pretty Poisons.
How did you get the role? I auditioned for Peaches ‘N Cream.
We were given four lines to memorize and a short character description. The casting office was crammed with girls arguing over seats. Every race and variety of female was present. As I waited in silence, my first thought was, “There’s no way I’m booking this.” My second thought was, “Since I’ve got nothing to lose, I should use this opportunity to have fun with the character. Learn. Grow as an actress.” Doing so, liberated me. Because I was free to express whoever or whatever Peaches was in that moment, I wasn’t afraid to go too far. I brought this sassy brass-knuckled goddess to life, that we call Peaches ‘N Cream. Six hours later, I got the call that I booked the role.
What do you enjoy most about playing Peaches ‘N Cream?
I wish I could say that I’m as tough as Peaches, but we’re almost exact opposites. So, it’s exhilarating when I can bring this sassy bruiser character to life.
What should the audience expect to see for the remainder of the season that you can tease? Well, I’d be spoiling all the fun if I came out with the season finale! So, I’m going to leave the spoilers at the discretion of Roberto.
Do you have any favorite lines or scenes from this season?
The Choni love scene in episode 15 was incredible. Choni stans waited patiently for their favorite couple to get that same level on-screen romance, as we often see in heterosexual couples. That scene was representation for the win, wrapped up in a bow and gifted to us!
Do you have any fun on-set stories you are able to share with us?
Just general on-set goofiness and jokes which often come with large production days. Essentially, it involves the guys participating in crazy dares or fitness challenges, with the rest of us recording and cheering them on. It’s high school all over again.
Do you have any projects in the works that you have coming up?
I have a couple of potential projects lined up after season 3, but nothing has been confirmed just yet due to scheduling. I’ll be keeping everyone posted via social media.
