You’re an actress, writer, and producer – triple threat! In a good way, of course! Tell us why you decided to do all three.
Thank you for the compliment. I am humble and thankful to work on all three aspects in the entertainment industry. I decided to get into acting because it takes me into another person. It makes me feel alive and build my confidence. Being an actress takes me into a happy world which let me bring another person to life. Becoming a writer is a blessing because you get to writer stories and do all kinds of things to your characters. I only tell diverse stories because I want my audience to connect to the stories. When I first got into producing it’s a job I love because it allows me to see over the project in so many different aspects.
Which took off first, acting, writing, or producing?
Acting took off first. I started acting in 6th grade, and I took a mini-break during my college years, but I did theater, first. Since 2013 graduating from college, I started working on TV shows, and independent film projects. Then, I decided to create my own content, while getting opportunities. I moved into writing. I started writing my first script in 9th grade of high school. Since then, I written 4 TV pilots – over 5 independent shorts and 3 features. Lastly, I moved to producing. I started to do my research and deal with SAG paperwork, along with projects that deserve producing. I just want to tell amazing stories and be a part of great stories.
Let’s talk Collision Envisage. What did you choose this title?
Collision Envisage title came about one night when I was sitting on my bed and I decided to create a story in my mind about two guys colliding together. What happens when a situation change in your life.
According to IMDB, Collision Envisage is a story “about two guys that framed each other for murder.”
Correct. The antagonist and protagonist have the same name. The story unfolds as a murder is happening, but also we discover a secret about one of the murders. I love coming up with so many twist and turns in my scripts.
You’re in pre-development for XY Social Unity. By the way, we love the creative film titles. Tell us about this title.
The movie is copyright. I am free to talk about it. The title, XY, comes from these five siblings, who are adopted. As for the,Social part, they are coming together one last time for their dying mother. Lastly, Unity comes from having to stick together, to find out what happen to their dead brother Tommy – XY Social Unity was created. I take the time to create all my titles.
How do you choose which stories to tell? Do you use real-world events for inspiration?
The stories I tell come to me in my sleep or personal experiences. I love telling real and diverse stories that my audience can relate too. I love thrillers and drama the most, because of the thrill in which the story takes you and unfolds.
You also star in your productions. Tell us about the challenges of switching hats.
Sometimes I star in my own projects, but, if I am wearing many hats, I am either in a small role in the movie or not at all. I love to balance it all, but also take the time to focus on one role on the project . . . well, maybe two. I barely direct because that’s not in my heart. I mainly stick to acting, writing, and producing. I tell everyone to expand their talents if they want too.
How has social media helped you spread the word about your films?
Hashtags are very important. I have a cool fan base, who has been sticking with my career since day one. It’s best to stay humble and thankful. My supporters love that I support other careers and their life. They take the time out their schedules to support me, so I love to return the favor. I don’t need no rewards, because everything comes from my heart. You never know who is watching you on your social media, from celebrities to other filmmakers; someone who you never met, but loves to support your goal and dream.
Are there any projects you’re working on that you can share?
As for acting, I am working on a few TV shows, independent projects. I am playing characters that challenge my acting. I’m working on a few independent projects. I am writing and polishing my scripts. I have a TV show and films I am producing. I am editing four of my projects. These next few months, I will be working day in and day out to work on all of them.
Could you share some inspiring words with aspiring filmmakers?
Never rush your career. It’s not about being seen on TV or in a movie. It’s about showing up on sets and doing what you love. Find ways to make your movie. Forget the money just make the movie the right way. Please do research. I fail sometimes as a filmmaker, but it’s always room to improve. It’s not about just rushing a film. It’s about taking your time with it. It’s all about taking the time to make your film – I am taking this advice, too. When it comes to cameras, it’s all about the lens. Never cheap it, as I would say. Invest in your project. Take feedback and criticism always. They may see something in your script or on set, when it comes to filming. Be amazing because you will have so much support throughout your process. Stay true to yourself and always respect the arts.
