Joel Goodman creates emotion through music. As a multi-talented composer for feature films, documentaries, television, album releases, performance ensembles, and other forms of collaborative media, his signature style thrives in musical settings that express the full range of human emotion.
Joel Goodman’s latest album, ‘An Exquisite Moment’ is a deeply personal and improvisation-rich project designed to provide the listener with a “full experience” of music.

The Emmy-winning composer embarks on an epic voyage of self-discovery alongside some of the most accomplished and creative names in jazz, including Randy Brecker (flugelhorn, trumpet), Brandee Younger (harp), Lisa Fischer (vocals), John Patitucci (bass), and Philippe Saisse (piano, vibes, marimba).

With a solid foundation of skilled musicianship ( 30 musicians worked on the project), the album provides a series of memorable and nostalgic tracks that inexplicably transport you to the psychedelic realms of imagination. To fully appreciate its orchestration, it’s one of those albums best listened to in surround sound while sitting peacefully in an acoustic-friendly room. Goodman masterfully utilizes his experience as a film composer and cleverly fuses music genres to present an album with a unique energy. It was a pleasure to catch up with Joel to discuss the album, his career, composing for film, and more. Check out the interview below.
