Written and directed by Gary Jones, Assault from Death Block 13 stars Charles Bronson lookalike Robert Bronzi (Death Kiss, Cry Havoc) and tells the story of Mick Kovacs, who after the death of his brother, travels to America to seek justice. Framed for attempted murder, he is sent to the notorious Pleasant Hill Penitentiary where survival is an everyday struggle. Seeking revenge after discovering the truth behind his brother’s death, Mick’s rage ignites an explosive riot as he makes a daring escape.
When one thinks of prison dramas and prison genre classics, Midnight Express, Cool Hand Luke, and Escape from Alcatraz come to mind. Unfortunately, this isn’t on par. However, If you like plenty of action, violence, pantomime acting, and don’t mind the weak plot, this movie provides 90 minutes where you can escape to an alternative world, reminiscent of a good PlayStation shoot ’em up.
Nicholas Turturro, Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs, Chris Hahn, and Debbie Scaletta are amongst the supporting cast. Assault from Death Block 13 is released On Demand on 2nd November and On DVD on November 23 via Uncork’d Entertainment.
