Artist ‘iskwē has been described as a creator and communicator of music and movement, of pictures, poetry, and prose. Building on the foundation of her self-titled 2013 debut album, her distinctive cross-cultural electro-pop was exhibited abundantly on her acclaimed albums The Fight Within (2017) and acākosīk in 2019.  Her accolades include being a  “Little Star” winner of the Juno Award for Best Music. Her album acākosīk was nominated for Best Adult Alternative Album of the Year, Juno Awards 2020, and “Breaking Down” was nominated for the Prism Prize and SOCAN Songwriting Prize.

Her new single, “Night Danger (Lovers Mix),” taken from The Stars (out March 5th), attempts to reflect an element of tension and release surrounding the sensations of love, passion, emotion, and struggle. Featuring The Prague FILMharmonic Orchestra, this is a delightful re-imagination of her original 2019 release.

The singer states, ‘When the pandemic hit here in Canada, and performances were beginning to evolve, I decided to take advantage of a long-overdue dream of reimagining my album with a more classical orchestration. I love the simplicity of a chamber presentation, met by the complexities of each song’s individual complexities’.

This is a refinement of the original, offering an identifiably raw sophistication to an already distinct and memorable piece of music. Have a listen and tell us what you think!
