BANG BANG-Occhi Magazine: Showcasing Independent Artists, Creative Projects & Inspiring Stories in Visual Arts, Music, Film, and Literature
Sunrise Films proudly announces the highly anticipated digital release of BANG BANG, starring Tim Blake Nelson. After making waves at the Tribeca, Locarno, Deauville American, and Oldenburg Film Festivals, and following a successful theatrical run this fall, BANG BANG is set to hit VOD platforms on November 4, 2025.
.
At the heart of BANG BANG is Bernard “Bang Bang” Rozyski, a retired boxer whose glory days are long behind him. Tim Blake Nelson brings a raw, magnetic energy to the role, portraying a man haunted by the very sport that once defined him. When Bang Bang reconnects with his estranged grandson, he finds a renewed sense of purpose, training the young man in boxing. Yet as the two grow closer, old wounds resurface, and questions arise about Bang Bang’s true motivations—especially from an old flame who remembers both his meteoric rise in the 1980s and his infamous rivalry with her cousin, Darnell Washington, now a Detroit mayoral candidate. Is Bang Bang offering his grandson a chance at redemption, or merely passing on the anger and pain that shaped his own life?

The cast is a powerhouse ensemble featuring Glenn Plummer, Kevin Corrigan, Nina Arianda, Andrew Liner, Erica Gimpel, and Daniella Pineda, each delivering performances that add depth and complexity to this story of legacy and second chances.
Directed by Vincent Grashaw and written by Will Janowitz, BANG BANG is produced by Ran Namerode and Angelia Adzic of Randomix Productions, Cole Payne of Traverse Media, Vincent Grashaw, and Will Janowitz. The film’s Detroit setting is more than just a backdrop—it’s a character in itself, reflecting the grit, struggle, and hope at the core of the story.
.
Andrew Nerger, Sunrise’s Head of US and International Distribution, shares, “With BANG BANG, we were drawn to a powerfully written story filled with emotionally rich characters. Vincent Grashaw has crafted a film that poses a fascinating question: what happens to a larger-than-life athlete when their career ends? Tim Blake Nelson delivers what may be the most powerful performance of his already storied career.”
BANG BANG promises to be a poignant exploration of family ties, generational trauma, and the pursuit of redemption. As the digital release approaches, audiences everywhere will have the chance to witness a story that packs a punch both in and out of the ring.
