In 2017, police officers mistook Ras Judah for a crime suspect. As a result, he was brutally tasered in the face while out walking his dog. Before this event, Judah had endured years of police harassment and denials of racism. The officer who discharged the taser was found not guilty at her criminal trial. Furthermore, in September 2018, she was also cleared of misconduct. Despite telling a terrible tale, the documentary “I Am Judah” reveals a beautiful story of one man’s journey to find harmony and ultimately peace. It is a powerfully cathartic documentary film that refuses to focus solely on the negatives of being black in the United Kingdom.
