Cuff The Duke is making a triumphant return with their 7th studio album, “Breaking Dawn,” after over a decade-long hiatus. The album is set to be released on September 6, 2024, under their new artist label, Cardinal Records. Known for their foundation in Canadian roots rock and their ability to craft noisy guitar jams, Cuff the Duke’s unique blend of genres has consistently defied simple classification, earning them a respected place in the “alternative” music scene.
The band released six albums, received two JUNO nominations, and toured extensively, performing alongside iconic acts such as Blue Rodeo, Hayden, Sloan, Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, and Calexico. Then, they disappeared from the music scene for 10 years, only playing a few shows during that time. However, now they have returned to the spotlight.
The band’s comeback album is a deeply personal exploration of frontman Wayne Petti’s journey with mental health. Lead single, “Got You On The Run,” sonically encompasses the spirit of Cuff The Duke and offers an analogy for Petti running from his own anxieties.
