The renowned annual Caribbean Fine Art Fair (CaFA) returns virtually and in-person to Barbados this week showcasing the works of over four dozen black and Caribbean artists, and a spotlight on NFTs. Art fans from across the world will be able to join CaFA 2022 at the Norman Centre, Broad Street in Bridgetown, Barbados, but also through caribbean.global from March 9th-23rd. Occhi Arts and Entertainment will be participating in scheduled conversations and panel discussions around topics of international interest for the Caribbean, black, and global art communities.

The event will include a segment on NFTs by Zoe Osborne of Mahogany Culture, one of the early adopters of NFTs in Barbados and the Caribbean, who will dedicate a portion of her panel discussion to explore and clarify facts around the new digital option for artists. Speaking ahead of the event she confides, “As we move further and further away from the generations that created what has been deemed ‘tradition’ in Barbados and the Caribbean, I am on a search to identify the narratives that are currently being produced by Caribbean artists today. Non-Traditional is, therefore, work that has a connection with Caribbean imagery or stories but is realized in a modern context that reflects the contemporary artist and engages the viewer in an unprecedented way.”
