Beauty is a billion dollar industry, and with plastic surgery on the rise, expect more product releases in 2017. However, 2016 witnessed a rise in no makeup and natural makeup support among many women. Most notable is Alicia Keys, when she appeared at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards sans makeup. Twitterverse ignited with posts about her appearance. By the way, Alicia’s skin is flawless. I commend her for putting her best face forward in such a high-profile way. We live in a age, where beauty is found in photo filters. Besides, in her own words via Twitter, Alicia said, “Y’all, me choosing to be makeup free doesn’t mean I’m anti-makeup. Do you!” A few would argue that she can afford to take care of her skin. Some even stated how everyone can’t have flawless skin. Both statements are inaccurate. Soap can cleanse your skin, and even restore your glow, if you choose the right soap. Knowing what to buy is the important step in creating a good skin care regiment. My mother uses Oil of Olay. She has used it for 60-years. He skin is soft and it glows. I prefer Neutrogena skin care products. I use the Naturals line. It works for me. It may not work for you. Again, you must find what works best for your skin type.
There may be several reasons your skin isn’t clear. I recommend you visit your primary doctor, for a health check. They can conduct tests to make sure you don’t have an underlying health concern. Once that has been determined, they may refer you to a dermatologist – skin care specialist. I recommend doing this before you start any skin care regiment. You may be allergic to certain ingredients that is causing you to break out. It’s important to know what you’re applying before you use it. Use organic products. Hello Glow listed 12 ingredients to avoid. Personally, I like to keep my routine simple. The less I apply, the better it is for my skin. Additionally, what I consume is a major part of my skin care. I drink alkaline water. I strive to keep my diet 80% raw. I avoid preservatives and processed foods. I even do detox baths.
I suffered from acne just a few years ago. I made a few dietary and skin care changes, and my skin is 90% clear. I use to wear foundation for cover. Now, I I just wear a good moisturizer. There are occasions where I do apply foundation, but I keep my makeup application minimal. Some of you may want to wear foundation, and there’s nothing wrong with that. Just make sure you’re wearing makeup that aids in good skin care, and you’re taking care of your skin. The no makeup and natural makeup look is about appreciating the beauty you were born with. By using the right makeup products and a good skin care routine, you can improve your skin’s tone and surface, and create a luminous appearance. There are several products that can help you create that natural look. Maybelline Fit Me poreless foundations and Mac Studio Fix powders can give you a natural and radiant look. These foundations are light on the skin, and provide good coverage.
So, my Dare to Go Bare Challenge is inspiring others take care of their skin. I will show you my natural methods. But I must state that I’m only showing you what I use. This is my personal journey. I’m not making any skin care product recommendations. Each month, I will share what I’m using on my skin. Also, I will share my friend’s skin care routine, as well. She’s my face model for the challenge. That’s her in the photos.
Make sure you’re following me on Instagram. That’s where I will post my updates. It officially starts February 3rd.
Until next time!
