The vibrant heart of London’s jazz scene will beat stronger than ever this autumn, as the Barbican, in association with Serious, unveils some of the events for the EFG London Jazz Festival 2025. Now celebrating its 33rd year, the festival promises to transform the capital into a global stage for jazz, running from Friday 14 to Sunday 23 November 2025. Over 60 venues across the city will come alive with the sounds of legendary icons and emerging voices, reaffirming London’s status as a world-class hub for jazz innovation and diversity.
A true highlight of this year’s programme, Grammy and Tony Award-winning jazz vocalist Dee Dee Bridgewater will bring her electrifying WE EXIST! show to the Barbican stage on Saturday 15 November. Bridgewater’s presence is nothing short of iconic—her four-decade career has seen her reimagine jazz classics and push the boundaries of the genre with fearless creativity. A three-time Grammy winner, she most recently earned acclaim for her album Eleanora Fagan (1915-1959): To Billie With Love From Dee Dee, a heartfelt tribute to the incomparable Billie Holiday.
Bridgewater’s musical journey began with the legendary Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Big Band, setting the stage for collaborations with jazz luminaries such as Max Roach, Sonny Rollins, and Dizzy Gillespie. Her artistry transcends music—she’s also a celebrated figure in musical theatre, with a Tony Award for her performance in The Wiz and an Olivier nomination for her portrayal of Lady Day.
As the EFG London Jazz Festival 2025 prepares to welcome audiences from around the world, Bridgewater’s performance is set to be a defining moment—an invitation to experience jazz at its most daring, soulful, and inspiring.
