Film Director Jared Cohn is gearing up to direct the Lynyrd Skynyrd movie. He has had a successful run in horror and thrillers, with such films as Buddy Hutchins, Jail Bait, Wishing for a Dream, and Little Dead Rotting Hood to his name. These three new films add something different to his dynamic CV. He talks about his films Devil’s Domain, King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, and Evil Nanny. We had an opportunity to speak with Jared. Check the interview below.

Jared, you have three amazing films releasing soon, to add to your impressive resume, and we can’t wait to speak with you about them! Let’s start with Devil’s Domain. Cyber bullying has become a hot topic, and becoming more dangerous every day. This film is taking it to the next level. Tell us more.
The movie means a lot to me because it has a positive message that it promotes. It sheds a light on cyber bullying as well as the state of the youth. Kids and parents these days need to more aware of how technology affects people. It causes depression and all sorts of bad things. I hope this movie helps out, just a bit with this sort of stuff.
Do you feel your film will raise more awareness on cyber bullying, and its consequences?
I really hope so. Kids really are so mean to each other sometimes. And online it can go unnoticed by family. Suicide and depression really are terrible.

It’s set to release May 30th in limited theatrical and VOD. Any plans for a premiere?
Yes, we will be having a premiere and I am very excited about. May 19th at the Arena Cinema in Hollywood on Ivar, come on down!
Thanks for the invite! We will! Before Devil’s Domain, you are releasing King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table on May 2nd. This is a good twist! Morgana returns with her son to wreak havoc on the last descendant of King Arthur. What inspired the script?
I didn’t write the script, the talented Scotty Mullen did. I have the pleasure of considering him a good friend and he came out to Thailand where we shot. It was nice to hang out with him.
OK, let’s talk Evil Nanny. It releases on May 1th VOD. Can we say CREEPY! [laughs] Wow! The storyline is enough to make people sit at the edge of their seats, especially parents! An evil nanny, who doesn’t take no for an answer. We’re almost afraid to inquire what inspired this storyline?
I also did not write this script, the talented Naomi Selfman did. She really did a great job capturing the fear of having a bad nanny. I am very happy with how this turned out and the positive reception it is getting.
After a successful horror and thriller run, you’re preparing to direct a Lynyrd Skynyrd movie. Tell us more.
Yes! I am super excited about this movie because it’s a real story that many people know, that real people experienced and I have the pleasure of working with Artimus Pyle, one of only two surviving members of the original band. He’s a great guy who has been very helpful and all the actors are very excited to speak with him and learn about the real people involved.
You’re an avid writer and filmmaker, who continuously hones his craft. What keeps you inspired?
I love to learn. Learning is very important to me. I think when you stop learning you basically start dying. The brain stops growing, it’s important for me to keep reading (audio books mostly) and watch movies and do whatever I can to become a better filmmaker and writer.
Thus far, what has been the best experience working in the industry?
I still love that initial excitement I had making BORN BAD. I consider that my first ‘real movie’ and I have to give a shout out to The Asylum for giving me that opportunity. I had such a blast making it and wish that excitement carried on to all my films. Now, I am so focused on making the movie better than my last that that seems to be my driving point. But still I get excited about making movies. I really do enjoy doing what I do, despite sometimes it can be very stressful.
Do you have any upcoming projects that we haven’t mentioned?
Several, and people can follow me on Twitter and Instagram to learn what I’m up to! I’m always pushing, always striving to grow as a filmmaker and as a person.
Complete this sentence, if I had an opportunity to do anything I want, I would do ___________.
I would love to be working with A list actors and make huge movies and stabilize myself in a way where I can pick and chose which movies I do. It’s a crazy hard industry and you have to say yes. Work begets work, but at some point it would be great to grow and be able to be in a position where I can more easily say no to certain projects that I am not fully passionate about, despite me being very passionate about filmmaking in general.
