We really enjoyed chatting with Christie about her latest roll in BOAR. Check out the interview below.

Hi, Christie-Lee! Thank you for granting the interview. We are thrilled to learn more about “BOAR.” Congrats on it being distributed by Universal Pictures Australia. How was the premiere?

Hi, thanks for having me. Yes, It’s very exciting having our film picked up by one of the biggest and most well-known distributors in the world. The red carpet premiere for BOAR was amazing!! Held in the small town of Nambour in Queensland where our director Chris Sun is from. The main street of Nambour was turned into a real Hollywood style premiere event. It was a sold out event and those who missed out on tickets lined the street to see all the stars arrive and watch it on the big screen tv. Once we arrived at the red carpet thanks to Mercedes, we were greeted by the MCs for the night, photographers, news crews and it was so much fun. Once we had all walked the red carpet and finished with interviews we then unveiled the real BOAR which was used during filming. The BOAR is 14ft long and 8ft tall it’s a true masterpiece. It was cool to watch the public’s reaction seeing the beast being revealed. It was great to sit in the cinemas with the public and see and hear their reactions to the film. It was very popular everyone loved it and it’s getting great reviews around the world.

026 Hugh Sheridan (robert) Christie-Lee Britten (Ella) talk about swimming_1.7.6Being in a leading role with a star-studded cast is exciting, to say the least. Tell us about your role and character?

Yes, I was very excited when I was confirmed to be in BOAR. Being cast as one of the leading roles among so many well-established stars was a dream come true. I play the role of Ella Munroe the daughter of the Munroe family. She is a sweet girl, in love with her boyfriend  Robert played by the talented 3-time Logie winner Hugh Sheridan. Ella is also a very strong girl who can kick some ass when she needs to. The film follows the journey of the BOAR this staggering beast in the Australian outback. It’s ruthless, driving the need for blood and destruction while defending its territory with brutal force and kills anything in its way.

Ella was a lot of fun to play, I got to explore a wide range of emotions and challenges she goes through in the film with her character, do my own stunts, be apart of some cool practical special effects and do things that were a little uncomfortable like swim in below 0-degree water haha.  We did a lot of late night shoots filming in the bush. Getting to play such a strong female role in this film was a great honor.

“BOAR” is a creature feature film of comedy, horror, gore, suspense, and emotion. Wow! Tell us what the audience should expect?

The audience should expect to see an awesome Aussie film. It has a little bit in there for everyone. Everyone’s reactions are different for some it’s a really funny film and others they are more caught up in the emotional journey, so it depends on the viewer. I have seen it 5 times now and I’m still finding new gems throughout the film. The entire cast and crew gave 110% and blood, sweat. and tears making this film, it’s is a really great achievement for us all to see everyone out there enjoying it now.

A fun creature feature with lots of cool kills, action and some good laughs along the way.

058 Christie-Lee Britten (Ella) Simone Buchanan (Debbie) react to Robert being taken by the boar_1.11.7 (1)Why should people go see “BOAR.”

People should go to see BOAR if they want to support a great Aussie film. If you want a laugh, be taken on an emotional journey and see some really great Australian and international actors. If you want to see some really creative kills and great special effects. Australia has not had a creature feature like this for a while. It’s not every day you get to see a killer pig run around and so far it has been very popular now sitting at the 5th best-selling horror film in Australia this year beating out some big name studios and films which is super exciting.

We had great reactions with the Australian cinema release. BOAR is currently available to rent on the Foxtel store in Australia as well as the Microsoft store, PlayStation store, Xbox, iTunes, Amazon.  BOAR is on DVD, VOD and BLU-RAY available at JB – HIFI, Sanity, target, Big W and many other stores.

BOAR has been chosen to screen at prestigious film festivals all around the globe. So far it has screened at The Bucheon International Film Festival in South Korea, The UK premiere was at Frightfest in Leister Square London, BOAR screened at the SITGES festival in Spain which is the worlds number 1 genre film festival, Slash film festival in Austria, Fractured Visions in Wales, Arizona Underground Film Festival, Hardline Festival in Germany and the US release dates are soon to be announced. Many more countries and film festival screenings are yet to be announced.

What’s the ultimate direction of your career?

I see the direction of my career still being in both film and TV but also possibly news reporting down the track as I dabble in presenting as well. I am always auditioning now for network TV shows in all kinds of fun roles such as cops, superheroes, thugs, vampires some really cool roles that are very non-stereotypical which are always fun to audition for. I love doing action and drama roles.  I currently reside in Vancouver, Canada working in film and TV with my future career taking me to Los Angeles where the heart of the industry is and hopefully one day go back to Australia if our film industry starts to gain more productions for us, Australian actors, to work on. My latest work I got to be a small part of Steve Carell’s Welcome To Marwen. I also feature in one of the latest episodes of Once Upon A Time. I have worked on a few Netflix films this year which will be out in 2019.

How can fans-to-be gain access to you socially?

I love using Instagram as I love taking photos of all aspects of my life be it acting, modeling, traveling etc. My Instagram is @christieleebritten.

I also have my website www.christieleebritten.com which has some of my work, updates, media & photos on there too. People can also contact me through my website.

Who are your biggest industry influencers and why?

When I was younger my favorite actors were Jessica Alba & Hillary Duff as I always thought they were great role models for young girls.  Now I love the freedom Jennifer Lawrence has with all of her characters as well as fellow Australian Cate Blanchett she just transforms into so many amazing roles and you really forget it’s her and that’s what you want when watching an actor to be so immersed you forget you’re watching them.

057 Simone Buchanan (Debbie) and Christie-Lee Britten watch Robert running down hill._1.11.6 (1)When looking back on your career, what resonated with you the most and why?

What has always resonated with me was being told by well-established actors to try and learn as much as you can on a daily basis, knowledge is power. Always be nice to everyone you meet as you never know when you may end up working with them in the future. The entertainment industry may seem huge but it’s really a small community. If you have a true passion for this business, you have to give it your all.

In your opinion, how could talent make an impact on the world?

I believe talent these days are a big asset in terms of using their positive social influence to get messages out to the world. Talent in this entertainment industry have the resources to make content, Talent has been attached to such great projects like saving whales, cleaning up the rubbish in the ocean and so on.

If you had to do it all over again, would you still choose this career? Would you do anything differently?

Absolutely I would choose this career path again. This is one of the toughest industries in the world as you are constantly dealing with rejection but you have to learn to not let any of the negatives affect you. I love this industry, it is an exciting one and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Do you have anything else you would like to share about your career?

I look forward to my acting future as I will be working between LA, Australia, Canada, and New York so I look forward to the journey that awaits.
