Check out the interview below.
Hi, Brendon! Thank you for granting the interview. Congrats on your role as Trip Bailey in the new CW “Charmed” series. For the audience that hasn’t seen the series yet, what should they expect to see?
They should expect to see a lot of magic! The show follows three sisters who are witches with newly discovered powers. They struggle with managing normal life while fighting off evil.
Tell us about Trip. Who is he? What is his personality like?
I play Trip Bailey, detective partner to Niko Hamada. Trip turns out to be a bit more inquisitive and insightful than usual, with some theories and ideas that lean into conspiracy territory. This leads him to pry into things that are maybe better left alone.
Did you face any challenges playing Trip?
No, he wasn’t a particularly difficult character to play. He comes from a place of figuring out the truth and understanding the reality of the situation, despite how extraordinary or supernatural it becomes. His reactions and journey into this magical world, therefore, come from a genuine place— as it would to any of us confronted with the same experiences.

Tell us about the process of getting the role.
It is quite a funny story actually. My agent sent me a last-minute taping for the role because I couldn’t make the audition in person. I barely looked at the details, thinking it was a very small one-appearance role and wasn’t familiar with the series. I didn’t realize it would become one of my biggest TV roles to date!
The original series is a cult classic. How does the new production bring something new to the story?
There is a nice modern spin in this reboot series, which has incorporated a lot more of our everyday science and technological developments—things we often take for granted today. The modern use of smartphones and science leads to some very funny scenes and adds a modern edge to the show’s demon-fighting arsenal.
What is going to surprise people about Trip?
Let’s just say, he does not comply with the ordinary detective trope that is so common on television shows today. His character arc makes a sudden detour in episodes 4 and 5.
What was your favorite part about working on Charmed?
My favorite part was definitely the people! The cast was especially nice to work with. Charmed is blessed with so many quality actors and admirable leading ladies. With a cast like that, long days blow by and shooting is all the more fun.
Do you have any upcoming work that we should look out for?
Yes, I just starred in another Christmas movie that came out two weeks ago on Lifetime called “A Twist of Christmas” with Vanessa Lachey. It’s been received very warmly by fans. I also just wrapped a Hallmark winter film called “Snow Princess” which is set to be released in mid-January! I play such different characters in these two films—a lawyer in one and a European prince in the other—and so fans may not recognize me at first!
