From casino showrooms to his regular stints, Dave earned the nickname “The Bad Boy of Hypnosis” for his decidedly adult spin on subliminal espionage. He escorts volunteers to the stage and unleashes their inner hellion in wicked spells, such as causing audience members to act like unrestrained dancers, transforming the hypnotic comedy show into a full-‐fledged bacchanal.

Hi, Dave! Thank you for granting the interview. Congrats on your new show. Tell us more.
Thanks for reaching out! I am pretty excited about this show. I have been doing this kind of shows for around 20 years now but this is certainly getting me excited. I can’t wait to step on the stage of some of the coolest venues the country has to offer. It’s one thing to do a hypnosis show in a cabaret setting, but when we put them in venues that are conducive to achieving the perfect test conditions it always results in amazing shows.
You are set to tour multiple Canadian cities starting April 20, 2018. What should the audience expect?
The answer is best answered by saying know what to expect. This is not your typical hypnotist show. No clucking like ducks, barking like dogs or eating onions. This is a show for adults. I can tell you it’s very provocative and hilarious.
You put an adult spin on your show. Tell us more.
I have seen many hypnotist shows that aren’t of an adult nature. They are still fun and can be cute. But if you could really hypnotize someone, what would you really want to have your subject do? This show explores all those options. Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing vulgar, or explicit. Just good fashioned adult behavior with a twist.
How did you become a hypnotist?
It started off with a desire to become the next David Copperfield. That led to magic. It didn’t quite work out. I saw a hypnotist at the CNE (Toronto’s fair), and it blew my mind. From there I couldn’t get the bug out of my head. I had to become a hypnotist.
Have you considered turning your show into a documentary?
Hypnosis is a very visual art form. I always thought it’s something that would translate very well on television (even though most TV execs do not agree). I think a documentary format could tell a really good story of individuals and what they can experience thru hypnosis.
What do you enjoy most about the entertainment industry?
Making people laugh, and giving them an outlet to forget about their everyday issues, and stresses. I also enjoy strangers coming up to me on the street who recognize me and tell me a story of something that they saw in my show that they really liked.
You continuously hone your craft. What keeps you inspired?
I keep inspired by staying in touch with my audience through connections after the show. Sometimes that’s in person, or it’s online through social media. They tell me what they like, and sometimes they talk about what they would do if they were the hypnotist. Sometimes those ideas are comedy gold and translate well into a routine. Seeing the audience engaged and reaching out definitely keeps me inspired.
Thus far, what has been your favorite show to date?
My favorite shows are always the frosh week shows I do for colleges and universities. The audience is so jacked up and ready for the show. I feed off that. My all-time favorite was York University’s frosh week show in front of about 2500 students. It had the atmosphere of a rock concert.
