Discussing the track, the artist shares, “People come and go in your life, relationships end and love can re-kindle. Kylie and I wanted to encapsulate this in a song. To the Moon & Back is about a relationship where they can’t seem to get it right so the girl keeps leaving, but they love each other, and can’t seem to let go so keep getting back together. Throughout the whole experience, the boy loves the girl unconditionally, even when she’s not with him and he doesn’t know where she is or when she’ll come back. As songwriters, this is something that Kylie and I have both experienced and we hope that you can relate to the song.”
