The soulful ingenuity of Nashville-based singer/songwriter Carlyle Griffin can be partially attributed to her upbringing and music exposure from an early age. Growing up on the Carolina coast, Carlyle was introduced to many different genres of music – the sounds of Motown, the emotional lyrics of 70’s folk rock, the dramatics of Broadway soundtracks – all of which bleed into her personal creations today.
Carlyle Griffin shares some of her personal feelings on navigating love and life in her latest single Say So. It is now available on all streaming platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, and more.
With two successful singles under her belt and a determination to create authentic music, Carlyle Griffin is establishing herself as one to watch in Music City. Her new single, ‘Say So’, journeys to answer the question, “What am I supposed to be doing with my life right now?” The writing process came naturally after the first few lines came to her while on vacation. “I was trying to determine what to do about my career, coming out of a short relationship that left me with a lot more questions than answers, and feeling really overwhelmed by the weight of all the responsibilities I’d garnered over the previous year,” Carlyle shares. “It was a way to try and take all of that off my shoulders and turn it into something that excited me rather than worried me.”
Produced by Joel Jorgensen, this is a perfectly stylistic tune that displays her musicality and diverse vocals. Getting the groove right is an important part of the process for her and her goal is for the listeners to feel good and be comforted knowing they aren’t the only ones who’ve felt this way before. “I want my fans to connect to the song in all aspects.” With Carlyle’s strong, lyrical vocals in the forefront and embellished horns that hit during the most powerful moments, she showcases her talent, proving that she is making her own way with a beautiful blend of genres and styles that transcends.
