This is, without a doubt, one of the most bizarre and darkly unnerving short films I’ve seen, which is strange considering there’s nothing graphic, sexual or inappropriate it’s just . . . weird. This is a dark, twisted, weird experience that I can’t honestly say is actually a film. This looks and feels like a music video for Tool or Trent Reznor. It’s confusing, creepy, disturbing and I guess that’s the point but . . . really . . . I’m just not sure what to make of this. If you shortened this down and took out some of the more absurd freak-out moments, you could easily pass this as a drug warning ad to scare teens straight.
The director hit the mark because Fried Barry is about a heroin junkie, who spends his days in an abandoned building. He walks around while tripping from his latest hit. You see him go through ups and downs as he relives his past memories. I do admit; it’s highly professional looking. The music, spastic camera shots, and chilling effects make me feel like I’m watching a nightmare sequence from a horror movie. Anyone who watches this, be prepared to be weirded out and definitely have a pallet cleanser ready.
The movie is scheduled to be released in 2018. You can find additional information at IMDB.
