With a career spanning nearly three decades, Chris Botti has left an indelible mark on music. His upcoming performance at the Barbican will mark a return to his jazz roots, showcasing a small group project that emphasizes acoustic jazz and classic standards.
Chris Botti’s latest album – and Blue Note Records debut – “Vol. 1”, represents a fresh start for the trumpeter. Stripping away orchestral arrangements, he focuses on pure musicality and the timeless appeal of jazz classics.
His first album in decades, Chris shares: “I turned 60 in 2022, at a time that seemed like a restart for so many things in the world. I wanted to strip away all the orchestral arrangements and special guests and focus more on my playing, the playing of my band, and these jazz classics that we always love playing onstage.”
The album, produced by the legendary David Foster, features a stellar lineup of collaborators, including pianist Taylor Eigsti, bassist Zach Moses, and saxophonist Chad Lefkowitz-Brown. Chris Botti’s mastery of the trumpet takes centre stage, delivering a cinematic quality that is both dramatic and emotionally vibrant.
