April 5, 2025

From Thursday, 24 July to Saturday, 26 July 2025, the Barbican Hall will host three exclusive performances by the legendary Herbie Hancock, marking a monumental celebration of his 85th birthday. These unmissable concerts, starting at 8:00 PM each evening, also commemorate over 50 years since Hancock’s first-ever London performance.

A true icon of modern music, Herbie Hancock has consistently pushed the boundaries of sound, transcending genres while maintaining his unmistakable style. With a career spanning more than five decades and an impressive 14 GRAMMY Awards—including the prestigious Album of the Year for River: The Joni Letters—his influence on both acoustic and electronic jazz, as well as R&B, remains unparalleled.

Hancock’s legacy is celebrated not only for his pioneering contributions to music but also for the profound impact he has had on generations of artists. As Miles Davis famously wrote in his autobiography, “Herbie was the step after Bud Powell and Thelonious Monk, and I haven’t heard anybody yet who has come after him.”

This exclusive three-night residency will take audiences on a thrilling journey through over five decades of Hancock’s groundbreaking catalogue. From his early classics to his innovative explorations in electronic jazz, each performance promises to be a masterclass in musical genius.

Presented by Serious and Marshall Arts in association with the Barbican, these concerts are part of the Summer Jazz Series 2025, offering jazz enthusiasts an extraordinary opportunity to witness one of the greatest innovators in music history.

Tickets are available now for this once-in-a-lifetime celebration. Don’t miss the chance to experience Herbie Hancock live at the Barbican this July.
