Ewan Wood is a fast-rising British-born Canadian actor who began his journey in Ottawa, Ontario, and quickly gained recognition when selected by Premiere to showcase his talents at Walt Disney World in 2019. Coming up next, Ewan is set to take on his biggest role yet, starring in a lead role in The Best Christmas Pageant Ever (Lionsgate) directed by Dallas Jenkins and set to hit theatres on November 8, 2024. Ewan takes on the role of the mischievous and cheeky Leroy Herdman starring alongside Judy Greer and Lauren Graham. Leroy’s obsession with snacks fuels much of the chaos in the Herdman family, making him a pivotal character in the story’s wild and humorous events. We caught up to discuss his blossoming career.
Thank you for agreeing to catch up with Occhi Magazine, how did you get into acting?
I love watching a Nickelodeon show with four kid actors in it. It looked so much fun to film, and I was like, “I want to do that too!” Then, my mom saw this post about auditions happening super close to where we live, and the next thing you know, I was in! The rest is history.
Have you always had aspirations of working in film and television?
I always knew that this was something I wanted to do because it looked like fun and a good way to spend my time.
What attracts you to a role?
For my role in The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, I like Leroy’s character because he was always looking for snacks, causing trouble, and messing with authority. I could totally get why Leroy did all that stuff once I found out more about his home life. It made sense!

This isn’t your typical Christmas movie—get ready for crazy plot twists, hilarious moments, some deep stuff, and a message that’s going to warm your heart!
What other projects are you working on?
It has been a fun-filled year. Recently I just completed a film project, an exciting guest appearance in much loved Canadian Series, and two up-and-coming short films.
