Taya Marquis is a Toronto-based singer, songwriter, and entrepreneur with a fierce, ambitious fire. Taya has opened for Taylor McFerrin and Tinashe, co-wrote with Ke$ha, and has been blessed with in-studio mentorship sessions with Young Guru (Jay-Z’s engineer) for her EP i’mperfect. Taya’s music is a fusion of pop, R&B, hip-hop, and world sounds topped with silky, rich vocals. Her songs show both vulnerability and strength, and in late 2020 she is slated to drop a new pop, R&B/funk project. With the release of ‘Chosen’, the second track of her EP i’mperfect, the Canadian artist discusses her career, the EP, projects, and more. The interview was recorded remotely via the COVID lockdown.
