London’s Southbank Centre London recently announced the lineup of performing artists for this year’s Christine and the Queens’ Meltdown, which includes the London-based jazz band KOKORORO. Playing a fusion of jazz and Afrobeat, the band was named “ones to watch” by the Guardian, after their track “Abusey Junction’ attracted over 23 million views on YouTube. The band continues to gather attention and critical acclaim for presenting a uniquely fresh, exciting, and exuberant sound. Artists and Occhi contributors Kendra, and Alyshia Jack caught up with band members Onome Edgeworth and Sheila Maurice-Grey to discuss their inspiration, music, and forthcoming gig at the Meltdown festival.
