
Navigating Nashville’s music scene hasn’t been easy for the artist, whose roots lie deep in rock and pop-punk. “Doing a non-country genre in Nashville can sometimes be a little isolating,” she shares. “Sometimes I’ll play out with my friends in the country scene, and people will look at me like I have three heads.” But rather than shrink back, Barry channels that tension into her music, creating a raw, guitar-driven sound that refuses to blend in. “It’s been hard to muster up the confidence to take my music in a fully authentic direction to who I am. It’s scary. These recent and upcoming releases are the first time I’ve finally had the guts to jump into my own.”
Building on the momentum of her 2023 release, “Phase,” which was featured on Apple Music’s New In Rock, Barry dives deeper into her story with “Buy The Book.” The track, Written by Ryan Nelson, Eli Locke, Kerrigan Barry, James Kelly reflects on self-doubt, judgment, and self-acceptance, wrapped in infectious rhythms and edgy guitar riffs. “It’s in my nature to want to stand out,” she says, “but I’d be lying if I said I don’t care what people think. I’ve got a big personality, always have, and that has definitely opened the door for some gossip to be thrown my way.”
