We had the wonderful opportunity to speak with Nicole. Check out this awesome interview below.
Hi, Nicole! Thank you for granting the interview. You have an impressive portfolio. What inspired your career in the entertainment industry?
When I was little I used to put on plays and shows all the time. I loved it! My Italian, maternal, grandmother would tirelessly watch and cheer me on. In college, I was doing two internships a semester at brokerage firms. I was planning on being a stockbroker/investment banker. Then my last semester of school I met B.B. King and he told me I should move to LA when I graduate and pursue acting. It brought back that old love.
Who were your biggest influencers and why?
It’s interesting; I innately had this draw towards acting, writing and producing. On my own, as a little girl, I’d put together these big elaborate shows. My grandmother always had the Christian TV station on in the background. There was this show called, “Marilyn and Sarah.” It was a mother and daughter speaking of faith. My grandma always said, “That’s gonna be us Nic. We’re gonna go on television and help the world together.” My grandmother is forever my greatest influence.
We both also really liked old Hollywood. The writing, the fashion, and the acting are so inspiring. I particularly liked Jane Russell. She was sexy, smart and sophisticated with a quick tongue.
Current work adds all these fierce, powerful roles for women which is fantastic and so important. Look at how great Aaron Sorkin writes female roles. It’s deliciously intoxicating.
What inspired you to become a host?
Again, for me, it was someone that approached me. It started when I was a teenager and someone nominated me for Miss Syracuse. Then after college, I became a spokesperson for S. California Teen Health. Then one day while walking into a Sprint store a man stopped me and told me about a hosting gig that I should try out for. I really thought about it. I consider myself very much to be a communicator and a seeker in life. Hosting was such an easy fit. I really enjoy it. There’s not much in life more stimulating to me than a great conversation.
Thus far, what has been the best experience working in the industry?
Wow, I’m really grateful to say many jobs are coming to mind. I love the Red Carpet; the excitement, the energy, the glamour. It’s magical. Covering my first MMA fight was riveting! I found another passion and interest. Working for Stan Lee is inspiring and lots of fun. When it comes to being on set, I have to say my first IMDb credit for the Hallmark movie, “A Kiss at Midnight,” was a big moment for me.
Do you have any upcoming projects that we haven’t mentioned?
Yes, I do. It’s an Indie feature film called “Summer of Justice.” It’s about a young woman seeking justice for her brother who was brutally slain. It’s tough material but important dialog. I am so happy to be a part of this film.
Complete this sentence, if I had an opportunity to do anything I want, I would do ___________.
This is a great question. I regularly take inventories of my life. I ask myself and loved ones that question often. “If you had the opportunity to do anything you want, what would you do?” For me, it’s more of what I’m doing. More acting roles of work that I’m proud of and find stimulating. More conversations hosting, with people that cause me to be inspired and can leave me with takeaways. I’m a believer in creation and I think it’s something God shares with us. We get to create our lives; shouldn’t they be stimulating, interesting and filled with wonderful people? There are truly abundant lives available for all of us. We simply need to get up and receive them and be sure to fill them with loving, loyal, sensational people.
