We had an opportunity to catch up with Josh to talk about his Kickstarter campaign for his indie film “Back Fork.” This is for the fans, filmmakers, and those looking for a great story to help be told. We discussed the amazing rewards he’s offering for your donations. You can donate to the campaign, to assist in bringing this important story to life.
The campaign is off to a good start. You raised over $34,000 to date, but you need $125,000 to produce the film. The support for “Back Fork” has been amazing. Tell us how you feel? Is there anything more people can do to help with the campaign?
Thank you! the whole process has evolved in my head to be honest. this subject matter is so much bigger than this film, I’m perfectly content and pleased if nothing comes from it other than I got to talk about his problem for a month. The best thing in these campaigns, is to make a pledge, no matter the size, and SHARE IT. SHARE IT WITH THE WORLD.
Let’s talk about the rewards people will receive for their donations. First, we love all of the rewards, and believe they provide many opportunities for fans and aspiring filmmakers. You made it affordable for people to donate. For $10, donors can receive some pretty cool stuff, such as photos, videos, and notes from your locations and sets. Could you provide more detail on what donors could expect for this reward?
For sure. You’re basically going to be getting the play-by-play. From location scouting to pre-production meetings, to the day-in-the-life on set. It’s a big sneak peak to what’s coming.
There are several reward levels, but we love the most is the reward for the $100 donation. People can see an advance screening of the film. Many may not know how awesome this reward is. Could you tell our readers about what an advance screening is? What to expect?
For the screening, you’re going to be able to see this movie before anyone. No audience will beat you to the punch. Plus, we’ll sit down afterwards and have a Q and A and I’ll answer anything and everything about the film and why there really is Santa Claus. Hear it all straight from me. The amazing times, as well as all the challenges in indie filmmaking.
Another awesome treat is a visit to the set. There’s nothing like seeing a film made. The memories are fantastic. Could you share with us what a typical day on a production set is like? Would the donors be able to take pictures?
Yes! Nothing like being there and seeing it first-hand. Pictures with cast and crew are totally welcomed. Just no pictures of what we’re filming. That has to be kept under wraps. But, you get to hang out, have lunch and watch the whole thing go down. Set days are long days, so you’ll be stuffed to the gills with plenty of memories.
Thank you for speaking with us about your project. May we follow up after the campaign?
Please do. I’d love to talk to you after. And thank you so much for the love! Go easy now.
Do you have a special message you would like to share with everyone?
Please take 5 minutes and take a look at the campaign. If it speaks to you, please make a pledge and share it with your world. Any pledge is a good pledge. Remember, we can’t chop a tree down with one swing. It takes a lot. THANK YOU!
Message from Josh
My home state of West Virginia has been suffering from the prescription opioid epidemic for years. I don’t know anyone who hasn’t been affected in some way, either directly or indirectly. This disease hasn’t passed over anyone, it has not discriminated. Journalists and documentarians have been bringing this plague to the forefront of our conversation for quite some time.
Art has been used since the beginning of time to tell a story, to exemplify beauty, to document, to promote social change. It is time for me to make my contribution to furthering the conversation of this plague that continues to haunt us, through film.
