“Better Than Before” is LAKEMONT’s second release. This new single brings a 70’s production with a modern pop vocal and guitar performance. The new single is a love story about a toxic relationship in which both parties still love each other but are beginning to lose themselves and not grow personally in their relationship. Their feelings for one another are still strong, but they know it’s best if the relationship ends. Even though the process of trying to unlove someone is painful, they are becoming better than before.
The group, Kyle, Dustin, and Alyssa compose an inimitable sound, drawn from a variety of musical tastes from jazz, Hip Hop, and acoustic preferences to more sedate and desolate tones. Teasing crystalline vocals accompany a tune packaged with light riffs, crescendos, and an arrangement that doesn’t disappoint. ‘Better Than Before’ is a short but arresting, earnest track and a memorable anthem for late summer 2020.
