The singer-songwriter-guitarist, born in New York City, has continuously brought new layers of depth to her music, blending soul, R&B, and forward-thinking pop. She has been nominated for a GRAMMY four times and has collaborated with renowned artists such as Nas, Brittany Howard, Robert Glasper, Sara Bareilles, and John Legend. Currently, she is on tour in support of her fifth album, “Special Occasion,” released in 2023.
The album delves into the many facets of heartbreak in real-time. Working closely with her longtime producer Jeremy Most, each track was crafted to provide an intimate and captivating insight into the experiences of love, loss, and self-discovery. King describes the album as a journey from breakup to makeup to breakup again, ultimately celebrating self-discovery during challenging times.
